A fire that erupted Friday in a garage adjacent to a doublewide mobile home in Valle Vista destroyed the garage and damaged the home, injuring the property owner.

The blaze was reported at 11:07 a.m. Friday on Rosebrugh Lane, just off Edith Way, a few blocks west of the San Jacinto city limits, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency stated that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames raging in the detached two-car garage, extending to the mobile home.

Firefighters immediately established hose lays and prevented the blaze from spreading to neighboring properties, according to reports from the scene.

The property owner, whose identity was not disclosed, suffered minor injuries, possibly while attempting to extinguish the flames. He was taken to nearby Hemet Valley Medical Center for treatment, officials said.

Another occupant of the property, who reportedly inhabits the garage, was initially feared trapped in the burning structure, but after crews knocked down the blaze at 11:35 a.m., no one was found.

There was no word on the party’s whereabouts.

Damage to the mobile home apparently was not considered major.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
