A fast-moving brush fire in Moreno Valley grew to about 1,000 acres Friday and was threatening to expand.
The fire was reported about 11 a.m. Friday in the 15900 block of Gilman Springs Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The blaze was initially estimated at roughly 5 acres but quickly spread, reaching 1,000 acres by 12:45 p.m., fire officials said.
Evacuation orders were issued for zones MOE-0507, MOE-0641, MOE-0747, RVC-0748 and RVC-0826. An evacuation warning was issued for zones MOE-0504, MOE-0505, MOE-0506, MOE-0639 and MOE-0640.

Two air tankers and about 30 engines were requested to assist in battling the blaze, according to the fire department.
Gilman Springs Road between Alessandro Road and Bridge Street was temporarily closed.
The cause of the fire was under investigation, and no injuries were immediately reported.
