A brush fire ignited in Culver City Thursday, resulting in road closures in the area, but was knocked down without any reported injuries.

The fire was reported at approximately 1:30 p.m. Thursday near Jefferson Boulevard and Duquesne Avenue, with officers and firefighters responding to the scene to assist with traffic and firefighting efforts, according to the Culver City Police Department.

Police advised the public to avoid the area of Jefferson from Duquesne to Hetzier Road to allow emergency crews to operate safely and efficiently.

Firefighters contained the flames about 1:55 p.m., and businesses on Lotz Lane were ordered to evacuate as a precaution.

About 2:05 p.m., those businesses were reopened to foot traffic, but vehicles were still not permitted, as the closure on Jefferson remained in effect.
