A rubbish fire scorched about a quarter-acre of vegetation and briefly threatened nearby structures in the Broadway-Manchester area of Los Angeles Thursday, but the blaze was doused with no injuries or damage reported.

The fire erupted around 12:30 p.m. Thursday near a railroad crossing in the 100 block of 116th Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Train traffic was halted while crews tended to the blaze and checked to ensure the flames did not impact a pedestrian tunnel. The fire was ultimately halted with no structural damage, and the pedestrian tunnel was not impacted.
