Firefighters were busy Monday morning putting out a half-dozen small grass fires off the Golden State (5) Freeway in Mission Hills.
The largest was a 1/4-acre fire with no wind or slope on the island to the right of the southbound 5 Freeway near the transition to the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Jamie Stewart.
A 40,000 sq. foot fire was found near the larger one, Stewart said. “All fires extinguished. No suspects. No injuries reported.”
