A 10- to 15-acre brushfire burned Saturday in West Covina.
The fire was first reported about 5:40 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of East Aroma Drive, at South Azusa Avenue, according to the Watch Duty app. West Covina Fire Department officials were not available for comment.
The size was initially reported as less than two acres but by 8:45 p.m. it had grown to double-digit acreage, according to Watch Duty.
Evacuations were requested at 7:19 p.m. for Castle Rock Court and Westridge Road, the news source stated. Firefighters were positioned in the neighborhoods to protect homes from the fire.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department sent 83 people and one helicopter to help fight the fire, department spokesman Keith Navarre told City News Service.
No injuries or structure damage was immediately reported.
