Riverside County firefighters held a brushfire south of Nuevo to about 10 acres Sunday.
The fire was reported at 8:19 p.m. Sunday in the hills near Gibson Avenue and Nuevo Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The flames were said to be burning at a moderate rate in light to medium fuels, fire officials said. Additional engines were requested due to challenging access.
At 10:35 p.m., fire officials reported the fire was holding at about 10 acres with moderate behavior and that crews were making good progress containing it with lines of cleared vegetation.
Crews were expected to spend much of the overnight hours making sure all hot spots were out, officials said.
There were no evacuations or injuries, according to the department.
