Firefighters worked Tuesday to contain an 18-acre brush fire with cleared vegetation and lines of hose in the unincorporated area of Sage east of Murrieta Hot Springs.
The fire was reported at 5:35 p.m. Monday at Sage Road and Wilson Valley Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. It was described as brush and grass on fire in a field with a large smoke column showing in medium fuels with a moderate rate of spread.
Surrounding agencies were asked to provide aircraft, equipment and firefighters.
At 9:30 p.m. fire officials said, “Crews are making great progress on the fire, establishing containment and laying hose around the fire perimeter,” and that some air and ground resources had been released.
