The Metro Board of Directors voted Friday to add 200 parking spaces to the North Hollywood Red Line station, which has been known to fill up completely by 9 a.m. each day.
“The lack of parking spaces is a well-known problem” at the station, said Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Krekorian, who is a member of the Metro board.
After the station’s 951 spots are filled, “that leaves hundreds of potential riders without a place to park, causing them to drive to work in heavy traffic instead,” Krekorian said.
The $1.4 million project will convert a nearby vacant lot into a parking lot. It is scheduled to be completed by June.
