A Los Angeles County supervisor called Wednesday for a review of alleged duplicate voter registrations and other election irregularities.
Supervisor Michael Antonovich recommended that the auditor-controller look into a report by NBC4 that identified at least 442 irregularities in the voter rolls, including duplicate ballots mailed to some residents.
“Even with the understanding that the process of updating or correcting voter records is complex, it is still incumbent upon the county to ensure the accuracy of voter registration, with preserving the right of every eligible voter to exercise his or her right to vote,” Antonovich said.
The station’s investigative team first reported alleged voter registration errors in June.
Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan told the board then that routine cross-checks should drop residents who move or die from voter rolls, but that moves across counties could result in duplications.
The board voted to request a report back in 30 days.
