The Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to name the inpatient building at County-USC Medical Center the Gloria Molina Medical Pavilion and a new county service center in the San Fernando Valley as the Zev Yaroslavsky Family Support Center.
Acting Chief Executive Officer Brence Culp cited Molina’s “singular leadership to deliver a major public hospital.” The medical center opened in Boyle Heights in 2008, replacing the dilapidated 1930s-era General Hospital.
Yaroslavsky championed the concept of a family support center that would provide a single stop for critical services ranging from health care to social and child welfare services.
Culp applauded the facility as “more than just the construction of a building. It was an opportunity to build a better service delivery model.”
The board’s vote was unanimous.
