A former Riverside utility official was hired to replace the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power’s top electricity manager.

David H. Wright will take over as the DWP’s electricity chief on Feb. 2, replacing Randy Howard, who accepted a job in Northern California.

Wright worked 25 years at Riverside Public Utilities, including eight years as general manager, and is now deputy general manager and chief financial officer of the Las Vegas Valley Water District, Southern Nevada Water Authority and Silver State Energy Association.

As the senior assistant general manager of power, Wright will help oversee a $3.9 billion budget, $10 billion in assets and 5,600 employees.
