About 100 Caltrans workers will be doing “swarm maintenance” along the three freeways that feed into the East Los Angeles interchange on Sunday.
The men and women in orange hardhats will be cleaning up, painting over graffiti, and repairing guardrails and irrigation systems where the Santa Ana (5), San Bernardino (10) Freeway and the Hollywood (101) freeways come together.
The idea behind swarm maintenance, Caltrans spokesman Patrick Chandler said, is to get it done quickly to minimize disrupting the flow of traffic.
The work is set to start about 6 a.m. and wrap up by noon. If needed, detour signs will be posted.
