A day after she denied reports she would announce a U.S. Senate run, political organizers for Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Garden Grove, said Wednesday the congresswoman will make a “significant political announcement” on Thursday.
Sanchez denied published reports that she was going to announce her bid to succeed Sen. Barbara Boxer on Thursday, claiming she was still undecided.
But a media contact for the event, Bill Carrick, confirmed Sanchez would make the “significant political announcement” Thursday, stopping short of saying it would be the start of a Senate run.
The only other major Democratic candidate in the race so far is state Attorney General Kamala Harris.
Sanchez’s announcement will be made at the train station in Santa Ana.
