A 45-year law enforcement veteran who’s spent the past 14 years as chief of the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation was on Monday named Beverly Hills’ interim police chief.
Pending formal approval of his appointment Tuesday by the Beverly Hills City Council.
Dominick Rivetti will take over as interim chief on Aug. 3.
The department has been without a chief since David Snowden retired June 13 after 11 years in the job.
“Chief Rivetti is the ideal person to guide the Beverly Hills Police Department through this transition,” said Mayor Julian Gold. “He has decades of experience and is well known for his ability to work with diverse groups and find common ground.”
A search is underway for a permanent successor. City officials emphasized that Rivetti will not be staying in the job.
Prior to his post as chief investigator with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Rivetti served 31 years with the San Fernando Police Department, the last 15 years as chief.
Rivetti will begin the process of implementing recommendations in a recent management report and survey that included 23 recommendations for improving hiring and disciplinary procedures at the Beverly Hills Police Department.
Areas such as recruitment, promotions, discipline, communication and team building are on the agenda.
