It ain’t over ’till it’s over. More than 500,000 ballots in Los Angeles County Wednesday have yet to be counted after the California primary.
County officials say the vote-by-mail and provisional ballots will be counted between Thursday and July 1st.
One race that might be affected by the uncounted ballots is the contest for the Board of Supervisors’ Fifth District seat. Kathryn Barger, chief of staff for termed- out Supervisor Michael Antonovich, earned a spot in the November runoff by getting the most votes.
But only about 400 votes separate entrepreneur Darrell Park and state Senator Bob Huff for the second spot. Park is so far in the lead. Once the county declares a final result for the second-place finish, that person will face Barger in November.
