As if driving to LAX isn’t usually tough enough, road and freeway ramp closures in effect this weekend around the airport will mean added delays.

A stretch of Century Boulevard and adjoining freeway ramps in Inglewood will be closed starting at 9 p.m. Friday, prompting Los Angeles International Airport officials to warn people heading for the airport to allow extra time and take alternate routes if necessary.

Century Boulevard will be closed in both directions between La Cienega Boulevard and Felton Avenue until 5 a.m. Monday. The northbound San Diego (405) Freeway onramps and offramps at Century will also be closed. Southbound freeway ramps will remain open.

The closures are part of a city of Inglewood improvement project on Century that is expected to last another year.

Motorists heading west on Century toward LAX will be diverted to northbound Inglewood Avenue to westbound Manchester Avenue and then southbound La Cienega back to Century. Eastbound motorists will be detoured to the same route in the opposite direction.
