Businessman Darrell Park continued Friday to expand his lead in the race for the second spot in a runoff election for the Fifth District seat on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

According to updated results, Park has a 1,661-vote lead over Sen. Bob Huff, R-San Dimas. That’s up from the 1,194-vote lead he held when results of the June 7 election were updated Tuesday.
The latest vote tally shows Park with 51,850 votes, or 15.35 percent, while Huff has 50,189 votes, or 14.86 percent, according to the Registrar- Recorder/County Clerk.
Kathryn Barger, chief of staff to outgoing Supervisor Michael Antonovich, leads the field with 100,689 votes, 29.82 percent.
Because no candidate received a majority in the June 7 primary, the top two finishers will meet in a runoff in the Nov. 8 general election.
Another 178,888 votes still need to be tallied. The counting is expected to be completed by July 1.
Park had a 400-vote lead over Huff in the semiofficial ballot count released June 8.
