Whatever happened to Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine?

The Democratic Party’s 2016 vice presidential nominee seems to have dropped from sight since Donald Trump took office, but he’ll be in the Los Angeles area March 18 to speak to an LGBTQ civil rights organization and conduct a fundraiser for his 2018 re- election campaign.

Kaine will be the featured speaker at the Human Rights Campaign’s Los Angeles Gala, during which singer Katy Perry will receive the National Equality Award from the organization billing itself as the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer civil rights organization.

Earlier in the day, Kaine will conduct what his campaign describes as an intimate lunch and conversation in Beverly Hills. Suggested contributions are $500, $1,000, $2,700 and $5,400, according to an invitation obtained by City News Service.

Federal law limits individual contributions to a Senate campaign to $2,700 per election. The initial $2,700 from each contribution will be designated to Kaine’s primary campaign and the next $2,700 to his general election campaign, according to the invitation.
