A rally calling to “open California” is planned for Sunday at Los Angeles City Hall.
Organizer Naomi Israel is billing the 1-3 p.m. rally as a “Freedom Rally” and described it as a peaceful, non-partisan assembly.
“Freedom is a non-partisan issue,” Israel wrote on her Facebook page.
Israel is asking attendees to “bring your flags, bring your patriotism, bring some water, bring your voice.”
Talk show host Dennis Prager is among the scheduled speakers.
“It is so obvious that the harm being done to people in the world” because of the lockdown “is so much greater than the coronavirus itself,” Prager said Friday on his nationally syndicated radio show.
“There is no moral, health, rational, economic reason to keep California, Pennsylvania, Michigan closed.”
Officials have said the lockdowns are needed to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
