Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is in Washington, D.C. Wednesday for the three-day African American Mayors Association Conference.

Bass is scheduled to participate in what is being billed as the “Big 4 Fireside Chat” with New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner on Friday, the conference’s final day.

While in Washington, Bass will meet with senior White House officials and members of Congress, her communications director Zach Seidl said.

The trip is Bass’ second to Washington since taking office in December. She also went to the nation’s capital in January to participate in the United States Conference of Mayors Winter Meeting

The theme of the conference at the Omni Shoreham Hotel is “Our Mayors Our Cities: The Catalyst for Equitable and Inclusive Growth.” Scheduled speakers include Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Beccera; Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg; and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge.

The mayors will attend a reception Wednesday night with Vice President Kamala Harris at her official residence, Admiral’s House on the northeast grounds of the U.S. Naval Observatory, and are scheduled to meet with President Joe Biden at the White House Friday.
