The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation will collect new clothing, electronic devices and other items to be distributed to children who have been displaced by the Eaton Fire at a drive-thru event Thursday in Arcadia.

Department officials said they are hoping to collect specific items requested by parents of children attending the department’s Care Camps, which were created to provide the youngsters with various activities and field trips as their families face enormous challenges to recover from the disaster.

Department officials said they are seeking items — only in new condition — to be collected from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Los Angeles County Arboretum, which is also serving as a Care Camp site.

The following items are needed:

— clothing and shoes for children ages 4-17;

— toys and school supplies; and

— electronic devices such as iPads, Amazon Fire tablets and earphones/headphones for online learning.

Children and teens in the Care Camps are taking part in music, arts and crafts, and sports activities, as well as trips to the L.A. County Natural History Museum, La Brea Tar Pits and Dodger Stadium, among other places.

The department is also providing breakfast, snacks and lunch daily. Teens will also get supper, according to the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Youth Care Camps for children ages 5 to 12 are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., while camps for teens ages 13 to 17 are operating from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

County officials are hosting the Care Camps until the end of the month, Jan. 31, for children of families under mandatory evacuation or significantly impacted by the Eaton Fire.

In addition to the Arboretum at 301 N. Baldwin Ave., Care Camps are located at the following sites:

— Arcadia Park, 405 S. Santa Anita Ave.;

— Crescenta Valley Park, 3901 Dunsmore Ave., La Crescenta; and
