A 20-year-old man was shot and a Metro security officer was stabbed during an “unprovoked attack” at the North Hollywood Metro station guard booth, authorities said Sunday.
The attack occurred at about 5:20 p.m. Saturday at Lankershim and Chandler boulevards, according to a Metro statement.
“Two contract security personnel were injured during an unprovoked attack at a guard booth, located at the street level of North Hollywood Station,” according to the statement. “During the confrontation, one of the guards discharged a firearm in self-defense, striking the assailant who initiated the attack. The contract security guards and the suspect were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.”
ABC7 reported that the suspect took out a knife and stabbed a security officer.
Police officers were dispatched to the location at 6:17 p.m. and took the suspect into custody, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The suspect was shot in the stomach, and his condition was not immediately available. It was not immediately clear what kind of injuries the other security officer sustained.
