A Metro bus experienced a mechanical malfunction Wednesday in Lake View Terrace, causing the driver to lose control and collide with a utility pole and tree, which fell on a pedestrian.
The collision occurred shortly after 2:50 p.m., when a bus on Metro Line 233 heading eastbound broke down and began to “roll forward” near Van Nuys Boulevard and Gladstone Avenue, Metro Media Relations Manager Patrick Chandler told City News Service.
“While the bus was rolling forward, it collided with a power police and a tree that fell on a pedestrian,” Chandler said.
The bus came to a stop when it struck a residential wall.
Chandler said the bus operator and the pedestrian who was struck by the tree sustained non-life-threatening injuries and did not require hospitalization.
The Los Angeles Police Department was conducting an investigation on Wednesday evening.
Anyone with information regarding the collision was urged to contact Crime Stoppers or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
