Residents in and around the Palo Verde Valley may notice increased military activity beginning Saturday as U.S. Marines and law enforcement agencies conduct a training exercise designed to prepare personnel for operations in urban environments.
Marines with the Camp Pendleton-based 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit will conduct the exercise through June 3 as part of routine pre-deployment training, officials said
The exercise, known as Realistic Urban Training, is intended to prepare Marines for a range of missions in complex urban settings, including humanitarian assistance operations, tactical recoveries and raids. The training will be conducted in coordination with local and federal law enforcement agencies.
Residents may see military aircraft and ground vehicles operating in the area and hear increased noise associated with the exercise. Officials said efforts will be made to minimize disruptions whenever possible.
Additional details about the training activities were not made available.
