Young sheriff’s department partners Tuesday will graduate from a dog training program in Compton Tuesday after participating in a program designed to help the youths develop confidence and leadership skills.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna was expected to join the 16 graduates of the Blue Line Dog Training Program at a ceremony Tuesday at Compton Youth Activities League.
The program, a part of Positive Actions With Service (PAWS), is a partnership between the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Youth Services Unit, the Sheriff’s Youth Foundation, Blue Line Dog Training and the Carson Animal Shelter.
“Throughout the program, participants learned valuable skills in dog handling, obedience training, grooming, and animal care while working directly with shelter dogs to improve their adoptability,” according to an announcement of the graduation ceremony. “Through their dedication and efforts, many of the dogs they trained were successfully adopted into loving homes.”
