Meta and a Mississippi woman settled her lawsuit alleging social media addiction in the middle of jury selection.
The 18-year-old plaintiff was identified only as K.D.B. She brought the case in Los Angeles Superior Court. Her part of the case against Snap, along with that of an 16-year-old girl identified as S.J., will continue in jury selection on Monday.
The K.D.B./Meta accord was announced Friday before Judge Carolyn B. Kuhl, who is presiding over the trial against Snap as the remaining defendant. No terms were divulged.
Before jury selection resumed, the judge and the attorneys agreed on a revised description of the case to be read to jurors as well as the expected change in the anticipated length of trial given Meta’s absence.
Another young woman, identified only as K.G.M. of Chico, was awarded $6 million in her negligence case against Meta and YouTube in March. All of the cases allege the social media platforms have dangerously addictive features.
