“Guardians of the Galaxy” moved back into the top spot at the North American box office over the weekend, outpacing the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” according to final figures released Monday.
“Guardians” earned $17.2 million between Friday and Sunday, pushing its four-week total to $251.5 million, according to Rentrak. “Turtles” collected a respectable $16.7 million, giving it a three-week take of $145.5 million.
The drama “If I Stay” debuted in third place with $15.7 million, while the comedy “Let’s Be Cops” earned $10.8 million to claim the fourth spot.
“When the Game Stands Tall” earned $8.4 million to debut in fifth place.
Rounding out the 10 most popular films this weekend were “The Expendables 3” ($6.5 million); “The Giver” ($6.4 million); “Frank Miller’s Sin City Dame To Kill For” ($6.3 million); “The Hundred-Foot Journey” ($5.3 million); and “Into The Storm” ($3.8 million).
