Young entrepreneurs, southern dance teams and “Kimye” pastor Rich Wilkerson will take center stage as Oxygen Media prepares for its Oct. 7 rebrand under the tagline “Very real.”
The cable network announced Wednesday that it greenlit five shows, bringing the channel’s original series count to 13. “The Investment Club,” “The Prancing Elite Project,” “The Wilkersons,” “Finding My Father” and “Preachers of Detroit” — a spin-off of the Oxygen-original “Preachers of L.A.” — will reinforce the channel’s new focus.
“Oxygen is committed to delivering more authentic originals geared to young, multicultural women,” said Rod Aissa, executive vice president of Original Programming and Development, in a released statement.
The network’s current slogan “Live Out Loud” was created as part of of a 2008 relaunch by General Manager Jason Klarman — who left his position as President in 2013 — described as “women who did what they wanted to without a care for what people thought of them” in a 2010 interview with Forbes.
