The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies” is selling more tickets this weekend than movie analysts had predicted, and will end the year as a top-five performer, it was reported Saturday.
Variety.com said the movie grossed $16.6 million on Friday alone, the first weekend night of the big Christmas holiday. That’s on track for a $54 million weekend and an $88 million gate since it opened on Wednesday.
Two other newcomers debuted far behind: “Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb” was headed for $19 million in weekend sales, and the remake of “Annie” was on track for $18.5 million, Variety reported0
