Former “Scandal” actor Columbus Short was ordered Tuesday to stand trial on a felony battery charge stemming from a brawl in the parking lot of a West Los Angeles bar.
Evidence presented during a preliminary hearing supported allegations that Short punched Fenton Hyche III on March 15, Superior Court Commissioner Mark Zuckman ruled.
Hyche suffered a concussion and fractured eye socket following an argument with Short at a family gathering, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Short is scheduled for arraignment on Jan. 6 at the Airport Branch Courthouse.
If convicted of the felony battery charge, Short could be sentenced to up to four years in prison.
The 32-year-old actor left ABC-TV’s “Scandal” in April after being charged in a separate domestic violence case.
