“Taken 3” was the No. 1 choice at the North American box offices this weekend, with $40 million in estimated ticket sales.

“Selma” entered wide release in the No. 2 spot. It was showing in 22 theaters last weekend, but was in 2,179 venues this weekend, where it was estimated to do $11.2 million in sales by Sunday night.

“Into The Woods” was third, with an estimated $9.8 million in sales.

The remaining top 10 movies, as estimated by the studios and collated by Rentrak.com, were “Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies” ($9.4 million), “Unbroken” ($8.4 million), “The Imitation Game” ($7.6 million), “Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb” ($6.7 million), “Annie” ($4.9 million), “Woman In Black: The Angel Of Death” ($4.8 million), and “Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1” ($3.8 million).
