A group of civil rights activists called off plans to protest a nearly all-white Oscars race at Sunday night’s Academy Awards show, reportedly at the request of “Selma” director Ava DuVernay.

The local chapter of the National Action Network said, thought its spokesman, it would honor the request.

Najee Ali said his group would instead “pursue a direct dialogue with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences” via its leaders.

“We continue to be fervent in our mission for expansion and inclusion within the Academy and the motion picture industry as a whole,” Ali said in a statement.
