CBS confirmed it has canceled “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” after 15 seasons, but will broadcast a two-hour series finale on Sept. 27, with original cast members including William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger.
The “CSI” franchise will continue with “CSI: Cyber,” which premiered at midseason. “CSI: Crime Investigation” star Ted Danson will join the cast of “CSI: Cyber.”
CBS unveiled its programming plans for the 2015-16 season Wednesday, which include three new dramas to premiere in the fall, including “Supergirl,” along with two new comedies.
Other series not returning include the dramas “Stalker,” which premiered in last fall, and “Battle Creek” which premiered at midseason.
Of the five series that premiered last fall on CBS, the dramas “Madam Secretary,” “NCIS: New Orleans” and “Scorpion” will return for second seasons. A second midseason series, “The Odd Couple,” will also return for a second season.
CBS’ commitment to air “Thursday Night Football” will again prompt it to air “The Big Bang Theory,” television’s most-watched comedy, on Mondays until November.
In September, CBS will premiere three series — the comedy “Life in Pieces,” and the dramas “Limitless” and “Code Black.”
“Supergirl,” which stars Melissa Benoist as Superman’s cousin Kara Zor- El, will premiere in November, airing Mondays from 8-9 p.m.
Also premiering in November is “Angel From Hell,” starring “Glee” alumnus Jane Lynch as a brassy woman who insinuates herself into another woman’s (Maggie Lawson) seemingly perfect life, claiming to be her guardian angel.
CBS also announced the comedy “Mom” and the drama “Elementary” will begin their seasons in November and the comedies “Mike & Molly,” “The Odd Couple” and “2 Broke Girls” will return at unspecified times.
