Morgan Freeman posted to social media in the wake of the Manhattan stabbing death of E’Dena Hines, his 33-year-old step-granddaughter.
Hines was stabbed to death early Sunday in New York, allegedly by her boyfriend with hints of an exorcism.
“The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer,” Freeman said in a statement. “Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.”
Lamar Davenport, 30, Hines’ boyfriend, has been charged with murder. He was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation pending his arraignment.
Hines was the granddaughter of Jeanette Adair Bradshaw — Freeman’s first wife from a marriage ending in 1979.
