No criminal charges were expected against a twentysomething male acquaintance of Rosie O’Donnell’s daughter. Chelsea O’Donnell, 17, was found in his New Jersey home after she went missing for a week.

“We want to make sure there is no criminality, but at this point it’s deemed a runaway,” South Nyack police Sgt. Daniel Wilson told The Wall Street Journal.

After posting details about her daughter Tuesday, using social media to ask help in finding her, O’Donnell confirmed that Chelsea had run away from home and suffers a mental illness.

Chelsea probably took a bus to Barnegat, 80 miles south of her home in Nyack, New York, to stay with the man, Wilson said.

Chelsea, who contacted friends to tell them that she was in good condition, didn’t disclose her whereabouts to anyone until Tuesday, Wilson said. That’s when an acquaintances told police she was in New Jersey.

Rockland Police officials contacted officers in Barnegat and had them look for her. They eventually found Chelsea in the man’s home.
