
The faith-based drama “War Room,” which emphasizes the healing power of prayer, has brought “Straight Outta Compton’s” three- week reign at the top of the weekend box office to an end. “War Room” surged past “Compton” with $9.3 million in its second week in theaters. “Compton,” with tells the story of the seminal rap group N.W.A. dropped to second place with $8.8 million.
The remaining box office Top 5 are newcomer “A Walk in the Woods” with $8.1 million; holdover “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation,” with $7.15 million and the weekend’s other debut film “Transporter Refueled” with $7.13 million.
Rounding out the Top 10 box office films are “No Escape” ($5.5 million); “The Man From Uncle” ($3.4 million); “Un Gallo Con Mucho Huevos” ($3.4 million); “Sinister 2” ($3.3 million); and “Inside Out” ($3.1 million).
