“Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” debuted atop the North American box office, outpacing Johnny Depp’s film portraying the life of mobster Whitey Bulger, according to final figures released Monday.

“Maze Runner” opened with $30.3 million, while Depp’s “Black Mass” debuted with $22.6 million, according to box office tracker Rentrak.

The horror film “The Visit” took third place, earning $11.6 million between Friday and Sunday, followed by the thriller “The Perfect Guy,” which collected $9.7 million.

The mountain-climbing drama “Everest” debuted in fifth place with $7.2 million.

Rounding out the top 10 films of the weekend were “War Room ” ($6.2 million); “A Walk in the Woods” ($2.8 million); “Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation” ($2.2 million); “Straight Outta Compton” ($1.9 million); and “Grandma” ($1.5 million).
