The premieres of the Fox comedy “‘Grandfathered” finished fourth in its time slot and the debut of “The Grinder” which followed, was third, according to live-plus-same-day figures released by Nielsen.
“Grandfathered” averaged 5.34 million viewers from 8-8:30 p.m. Tuesday and “The Grinder” 4.98 million from 8:30-9 p.m.
Ratings for premieres are often unrepresentative of how the series will fare due to the heavy promotion they receive and because viewers who are interested in the concept may not return for future episodes.
For the second consecutive week, “Limitless,” the CBS sequel to the 2011 film thriller with the same title, won its 10-11 p.m. time slot, averaging 9.73 million viewers.
