In her first “Saturday Night Live” appearance, host Amy Schumer took on guns with gusto. A spoof of a public-service announcement praised the role of firearms in family life and concluded: “Guns. We’re here to stay.”

Schemer recently joined with relative Sen. Chuck Schumer to call for tougher gun controls in the wake of the shooting deaths of two women watching her movie “Trainwreck” in Louisiana.
In its weekly scorecard, uproxx.com called “Guns” the “Sketch of the Night,” with a rating of 9.5:
“It’s great not just because it’s saying something, but that it’s so funny. It’s easy to make a serious point and not be funny,” Mike Ryan says in the review. “It’s hard to make a serious point and be funny. I laughed out loud when Kate McKinnon fires off her gun while jogging; when Mooney and Zamata play spin the bottle with a gun, then start firing at shooting stars; and when Bobby Moynihan gives his newborn a gun, then acts like he’s being held up.”

Amy Schumer is bothered that we have guns.
Amy Schumer doesn’t bother us since most of us are unaware that she exists.*
*She’s a comic.

Praise Amy Schumer for not missing an opportunity to talk about guns. And crazy people. And people who are crazy about….guns.

Is it just me or is it a little soon for Amy Schumer to be in a joke about guns? I thought it was funny, but I’m not sensitive. #SNL

In South Carolina and the #snl guns skit cut out immediately when Schumer opened the gift box. Are you there, NRA?
