In her first “Saturday Night Live” appearance, host Amy Schumer took on guns with gusto. A spoof of a public-service announcement praised the role of firearms in family life and concluded: “Guns. We’re here to stay.”

“Guns are there in little moments and big ones, when things fall apart or it all comes together. They unite us, comfort us, bring us joy and strength,” the female narrator says.

Schemer recently joined with relative Sen. Chuck Schumer to call for tougher gun controls in the wake of the shooting deaths of two women watching her movie “Trainwreck” in Louisiana.

In its weekly scorecard, uproxx.com called “Guns” the “Sketch of the Night,” with a rating of 9.5:

“It’s great not just because it’s saying something, but that it’s so funny. It’s easy to make a serious point and not be funny,” Mike Ryan says in the review. “It’s hard to make a serious point and be funny. I laughed out loud when Kate McKinnon fires off her gun while jogging; when Mooney and Zamata play spin the bottle with a gun, then start firing at shooting stars; and when Bobby Moynihan gives his newborn a gun, then acts like he’s being held up.”
