On “The West Wing,” Rob Lowe plays “Sam” Seaborn, deputy White House communications director. Lowe may need a spokesman himself to answer critics of his tweets on the Paris terror attacks.
Lowe started out innocently on Friday the 13th, saying:
Vive La France! #Paris

But later tweets by Lowe weren’t subtle in apparently criticizing French policy. That brought out trolls who were critical of Lowe’s slams against France and its president. A couple messages from Lowe read:
Oh, NOW France closes its borders. #Hollande

This is either the worst translation of an important speech ever, or one of the worst ever given. #Hollande

Lowe pivoted to prayers later.
Lived in France, and spend a ton of time there. Been in that stadium. This is all so devastatingly sad for a place I love. #FrenchPrayers

But then he began explaining himself, which doesn’t always go over well.
Wow. For you trolls out there, the phrase “Vive La France” is the traditional expression of SUPPORT for France. Don’t misinterpret my words.

Fellow actor Scott Baio came to Lowe’s defense about closing the borders:
Bravo @RobLowe Bravo! I’m with you. #CloseOurBorders #PrayForParis
