If Marilyn Monroe were alive today, she’d be 89 — and maybe cranky at a new Super Bowl TV commercial.
In the 30-second spot, which has topped 2 million views on YouTube, craggy 60-year-old actor Willem Dafoe recreates Monroe in her famous dress-blowing scene from the movie “The Seven Year Itch.”
The Snickers ad, of course, promotes the candy bar as an antidote to “crankiness.” So when Dafoe complains about the gig, he gets a sweet — which turns him into Norma Jeane Mortenson (Monroe).
“I have to admit playing a Hollywood bombshell is a new challenge for me,” Dafoe said in a statement. “But as a huge fan of Marilyn Monroe, I just couldn’t resist the opportunity to take a walk in her shoes and famous white dress.”
The ad was a hit with others.
