As politico.com quoted Springer as saying: “When I first started watching the Republican debates, I said that, you know, if they’re going to do my show, they should start paying me.”
Springer, who in the late 1970s was a Democratic mayor of Cincinnati, added: “You know, it’s one thing to have a television show like that, but that’s not how you run a country. And it’s disgraceful.”
As one wag put it: “When Jerry Springer thinks you’ve gone too far, my friends, you have gone too far.”
Springer said Bernie Sanders would lose a general election, but “there is absolutely no way that Donald Trump becomes president of the United States.”
