Geraldine Mejia wasn’t alone in her reaction to Alicia Keys singing two new songs on “Saturday Night Live.” But calling her better than Queen B?

“Keys debuted a pair of new songs, ‘In Common’ and ‘Hallelujah,’ during her musical guest spot,” Rolling Stone said. “Less than a week after Alicia Keys unveiled her new single “In Common,” the singer appeared on the Brie Larson-hosted episode of Saturday Night Live for the live debut of that Latin-infused track.
“Keys, making her first SNL appearance since 2010, delivered a simmering, sensual rendition of the Illangelo-produced song bolstered by a locked-in backing band. For Keys’ second musical guest spot, she premiered her soulful, gospel-influenced ‘Hallelujah,’ an original composition and not the oft-covered Leonard Cohen classic, for the first time on television.”
The rock magazine also noted that Keys will return to NBC as a judge in the coming 11th season of The Voice “alongside fellow new recruit Miley Cyrus.”
