If at first you don’t succeed, try, try another trailer. That’s apparently the “Ghostbusters” motto amid even more derision and skepticism.

“The new look at the film, a gender-swapped reboot of the 1984 classic that pits paranormal specialists against a growing ghost invasion, spends much less time on setting up the premise than the first trailer did, instead letting the comedic powerhouses they’ve cast (Melissa McCarthy, Kristin Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones) do the heavy lifting for them.”
But the Twitter-Humor Industrial Complex was firing on all cylinders, with remarks like: “I’m boycotting the new Ghostbusters movie because none of the ghosts they fight are free-range, organic or locally-sourced” and “Call us when the Ghostbusters are trans.”
With the movie in theaters July 15, we have two months of this to come:
Like if you think the new @Ghostbusters should NOT have been shot entirely in a @Target men’s restroom!

If we’re gonna attack this new Ghostbusters for ruining our childhoods, we should also address my parents’ divorce

Imagine reading the news and out of everything happening in the entire world, a Ghostbusters reboot was the thing that made you speak out.

If I owned movie theaters I would screen nothing but the original Ghostbusters the day the fempocalypse version comes out

Call us when the Ghostbusters are trans.

I think most of the Ghostbusters animosity stems from people realizing they’re 32 years older and there’s nothing we can do about it.

Sorry. The naysayers are just wrong about #ghostbusters. The trailer brings a giant smile to my face.
