Oprah Winfrey backing Hillary Clinton was a no-brainer, but conservatives attacked the endorsement as sexist. Even some women took offense.
“Regardless of your politics, it’s a seminal moment for women,” Winfrey said Wednesday. “What this says is, there is no ceiling, that ceiling just went boom! It says anything is possible when you can be leader of the free world.”
“I’m with her,” Winfrey said, using Clinton’s campaign slogan. “It’s about time that we make that decision” to elect a female president.
Clinton said thanks via social media.
.@oprah Thank you. It’s an honor to have the support of someone who’s shattered so many glass ceilings. https://t.co/U34EtHoYQD

But the pushback was immediate — even from women.
.@JedediahBila calls Oprah’s endorsement of Clinton “insulting.”: “I hate when people reduce women to ovaries.”
