What would Ivanka Trump do if subjected to sex harassment at work? Her father and brother Eric shared their ideas this week, but not the 34-year-old woman in question.

The Trump men generally say Ivanka wouldn’t allow it or would quit. But that wasn’t the answer many on social media are giving.

On USA Today, Fox News contributor Kirsten Powers quoted the GOP nominee as saying: “I would like to think she would find another career or find another company if Ivanka were treated the way Fox News founder Roger Ailes allegedly behaved.

Saying his reply was “startling, even by Trumpian standards,” Powers wrote: “But most women don’t have the financial resources of Ivanka. They can’t afford to quit their job without another in hand, something that is impossible to do when you are under contract and forbidden to speak to competitors. Most importantly, why should a woman be expected to upend her career just because she ended up in the crosshairs of some harasser?”

In another interview, Eric Trump acknowledged that the Human Resources department would be involved but added: “I don’t think she would allow herself to be subjected to that. I think that’s a point he was making, and I think he did so well.”

Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly tweeted a one-word reaction:

Others did more than sigh.
