For once, Ellen Degeneres wasn’t kidding. Tuesday outside the White House, where she was among nearly two dozen stars about to get Presidential Medals of Freedom, she tweeted:

But Fox News noted: “She managed to make her way in just over an hour later. She proved it by sharing a video of herself alongside the other recipients, including celebrities like Robert De Niro, Diana Ross, Bruce Springsteen and Robert Redford.”
She received her medal from Obama and sat down, wiping away tears.
