In his CBS News days, Dan Rather famously stood up to Richard Nixon. Now the 85-year-old journalist is urging his Facebook followers to “stand up to be counted” against Donald Trump-inspired “dangers.”

He posted a 644-word note about the president-elect’s “mild rebuke” of neo-Nazis, saying: “History will demand to know which side were you on” and calling on the public to “flood newsrooms or TV networks with your calls if you feel they are slipping into the normalization of extremism.”

Now the blowback from the right, which raised issues from Rather’s storied career.
