Get ready for another “Star Trek” version, this time to be called “Star Trek: Discovery” coming to CBS.

While the original William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy series first hit the small screen a half-century ago, numerous films and other TV versions have appeared through the years.

If you’re a “Trekkie” this may seem as if it’s good news. For the rest of us it’s Star Trek yet again.

In any event, the first three cast members of CBS All Access’ “Star Trek: Discovery” were announced — Doug Jones, Michelle Yeoh and Anthony Rapp.

Jones will portray Lt. Saru, a Starfleet science officer who is part of an alien species new to the Star Trek universe. Jones starred in “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” and portrayed Abe Sapien in “Hellboy” and “Hellboy II: The Golden Army.”

Yeoh, a Hong Kong action film star, will portray Captain Georgiou, the captain of the Starfleet Starship Shenzhou.

Rapp will portray Lt. Stamets, a science officer specializing in astromycology, the study of fungi in outer space. Rapp is best known for originating the role of Mark Cohen in the Broadway production of “Rent” in 1996 and reprising the role in the film version.

“Star Trek: Discovery” is scheduled to premiere in May on CBS, with the remainder of its episodes airing on CBS All Access, the network’s digital subscription video-on-demand and live streaming service.
